TUDOR | Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K
Discover the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K, in 18K yellow gold with an open case back.
The name Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K is, of course, a reference to the precious metal of its case, but also to 1958, the year in which the first TUDOR divers’ watch waterproof to 200 metres (660 ft), reference 7924 or “Big Crown”, was introduced. Among other aesthetic nods to this historic watch, this model offers a case 39 mm in diameter in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s. Ideal for slim wrists, people who like more compact watches and, of course, vintage enthusiasts, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K is also the first TUDOR divers’ watch to be made in 18K yellow gold and offered with an open case back.
MATTE GOLD
Completely satin-finished to achieve a matte effect, contrasting with the usual bright finish seen in gold watches, the case of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K in 18K yellow gold breaks new ground for TUDOR diver's watches. A previously unseen open case back exposes the Manufacture MT5400 Calibre, adding to the unique visual appeal of this model. Straddling the line between TUDOR's durable tool-watch heritage and a luxurious item, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K maintains its rarity and exclusivity.
"GOLDEN GREEN" TONES
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K flaunts its matte 18K yellow gold, harmonizing a dial and bezel in a luxurious "golden green" tone, accented by matte gold elements. Its iconic "Snowflake" hands and hour markers' appliqués shimmer in matching 18K yellow gold, mirroring the fabric strap's color scheme. TUDOR's pioneering use of the fabric strap in 2010 set a trend, handwoven by Julien Faure using 19th-century Jacquard looms in France's St-Etienne. Celebrating a decade-long partnership in 2020, TUDOR and Julien Faure, a 150-year-old family firm, marked their collaboration's genesis with the Heritage Chrono, the inaugural watch model donning the artisan-crafted fabric strap at Baselworld 2010.
THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5400
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K comes equipped with the Manufacture Calibre MT5400, showcasing hour, minute, and second functions. Its variable inertia balance wheel is supported by a robust traversing bridge anchored at two points. This mechanism, combined with a non-magnetic silicon hairspring, allows the MT5400 Manufacture Calibre to operate within a narrow tolerance range of 6 seconds (-2 / +4) when tested in a fully assembled watch. Additionally, it boasts a "weekend-proof" feature, providing a 70-hour power reserve, which enables the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to reset it.
COMPLIMENTARY STRAP
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K comes with a domed dark brown alligator strap accompanied by an 18K yellow gold buckle, offering a sophisticated bracelet option. Additionally, within the package, a complementary green fabric strap featuring a gold-coloured band and an 18K yellow gold buckle is included, providing versatile style choices to match various preferences.
THE ESSENCE OF BLACK BAY
Like other models in the Black Bay range, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K adopts TUDOR's characteristic angular hands known as “Snowflake” that first appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalogue. The result of a subtle blend of traditional aesthetics and contemporary watchmaking, the Black Bay line is far from simply being an identical rerelease of a classic. Resolutely anchored in the present, it brings together almost seven decades of TUDOR divers' watches. Whilst it is neo-vintage in conception, its manufacturing techniques and its robustness, reliability, durability and precision as well as the quality of its finish are above modern industry standards.

THE TUDOR GUARANTEE
Since its creation by Hans Wilsdorf in 1926, and in line with his vision of an ideal watchmaking product, TUDOR has never stopped producing the most robust, durable, reliable and precise watches in existence today. Bolstered by this experience, and confident in the knowledge of the superior quality of its watches, TUDOR is offering a five-year guarantee on all its products sold after January 1st 2020. This guarantee does not require the watch to be registered, or any maintenance checks, and is transferable. All TUDOR products bought between July 1st 2018 and December 31st 2019 will therefore benefit from an 18-month extension to their guarantee, that is to say, a total of three and a half years. TUDOR also recommends that its watches should be serviced approximately every 10 years depending on the model and the extent of its use on a day-to-day basis.
ABOUT TUDOR
TUDOR is an award-winning Swiss-made watch brand, offering watches with refined aesthetics, proven reliability and unique value for money. Because of their robustness and affordability, throughout their history TUDOR watches have been chosen by the boldest adventurers on land, underwater and on ice. Today, the TUDOR collection includes emblematic models such as Black Bay, Pelagos, 1926 and Royal.
