Since the late 1950s, the House of Goossens has expanded its expertise in costume jewellery and accessories to encompass the realm of "jewels for spaces." Venturing into the creation of chandeliers, mirrors, lamps, and decorative objects, they extended their savoir-faire beyond personal adornment. Once again, it was the visionary Gabrielle Chanel who encouraged Robert Goossens to explore new avenues of artistic expression. During a conversation at her iconic apartment on rue Cambon, Chanel proposed the idea of enhancing a rock crystal globe from a chandelier with an additional object. In response, Goossens crafted a pedestal adorned with a trio of golden lions, symbolizing the designer's zodiac sign. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey, as Goossens went on to create other remarkable pieces for Chanel, including a waterlily pedestal table and a table featuring a base inspired by wheat sheaves.
